The photo at the top of this blog was taken from a kayak in the waters off the island where I live. The scenery here is fantastic, but I wanted to share this special shot with you, as it is not only beautiful, but also very "grounding." Metaphorically, often we as natural mothers do feel we are "alone on an island," isolated from those around us, family members who do not understand, friends who do not know how to give support, professionals to tell us to "just get over it" and "move on." I am lucky to be surrounded by people in my daily life who understand.
